I’ve been teaching second language learners for many years and would agree with many of the ideas in this book, especially for those heading overseas. In fact I passed it along to my daughter who has just started her English teaching career in Korea. A good reminder of some basic concepts for experienced teachers like myself too. The conversational tone with which the book is written makes it an enjoyable read too, as opposed to a stuffy academic voice. Well worth it!Product details

50 Things the New ESL Teacher Should Know A Survival Guide eBook Paul Cleaver Gerry Gibson Reviews
There are two things I really enjoyed about this book. One is the 25 activities in this book that are practical and can be applied to many different scenarios. The second thing I enjoyed is the casual tone the author uses in this book. With a little bit of dry humor, it keeps the pace moving and makes for an enjoyable read. I think it’s a great snapshot for new teachers of what to expect in the new world of teaching.
I wish I had a book like this when I started my teaching career as it provides a nice overview on what I was getting myself into. And as a new teacher coming up with new ideas is always a struggle, so having 25 teaching activities that can be applied to different themes and lessons makes this book quite helpful. I’ve been teaching for many years and I still found new activities I’d never used before. Definitely recommend this book.
