****
Serena can’t let go of the past, and, in the spectral embrace of her murdered lover, Devon, she has little reason to...
Until Zane arrives on her doorstep (and blows it into splinters).
However, she can’t deny the true desire she feels in Zane’s strong embrace.
Will she be able to resist Zane’s mysterious allure, despite her own budding passion?
Especially when the passion makes her feel complete…
****
As their personal pasts continue to haunt them,
the future for them and their clan grows evermore in
jeopardy of the malicious schemes of a familiar force.

and can a slaughterous beast be swayed of its catastrophic nature?
Or will the lover and the fighter be doomed to lose themselves amidst the chaos?

I was excited to read this, but I found the plot to be a little predictable. The characters were a bit like caricatures though and sort of felt like they could only mostly convey one emotion or persona. They didn't feel complex. The writing wasn't bad, but I found some things repetitive, like people kept nervously or excitedly biting their lips like that was the only reaction people could muster for anything. The one thing that really completely threw me off was one very angry, stoic character suddenly shouted "GLOMP" and threw themselves onto another character. This character has never before acted in any way that makes that appropriate to his usual demeanor. The character also seems like literally the last character on Earth who would even know what "glomp" meant. Overall, it's decent for a fun beach read kind of book, but it definitely isn't my usual type of read. I do see a lot of potential in this author and would be interested to read more as she matures in her writing style.Product details

Scarlet Night Behind the Vail Book 1 edition by Megan J Parker Nathan Squiers Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
I enjoy a good paranormal read and that's what you get with this one. The characters are different and intriguing and that will have you finishing the book before you know it! This is a book that you can definitely enjoy over a lazy weekend.
Loved Megan J. Parker's "Scarlet Night!" I'm not one to write detailed reviews...suffice it to say, this is a an 18+ read...and does it ever pack a punch (or two dozen!)! Fell in love with Zane...sorry, couldn't help myself. And, I liked Serena from the start. The other characters and story lines only added to this roller coaster ride of a read! Cannot...CANNOT wait for the next in the series. <Ahem!> Megan...get to it, love! We're waiting...as patiently as possible!!
I love reading paranormal books. Its rare for me to read one that isn't something I've read before. I read a lot and it usually seems like the same book just a different name (which isn't that bad when its a good plot) but I was very excited to see that this was not one of those. The characters were adorable and cute and I love them. Zoey is adorable, and even though she isn't a major player I love her anyway. Zane is hunky, troubled, cute and cursed. Literally. But thats alright. I can't wait to get the next one, I've gotta know what happens next!
Good writing and overall good story line but so many unanswered questions it became annoying for me. And the ending had me say what the ...heck? I don't like how this author chose to end this one with unanswered questions that puts you into book two. Probably my personal preference. Happy reading tho'.
I really liked the characters and the different skills that the supernatural community had in the book. Granted there were a few moments that there was no explanation and that was a bit frustrating, but for the most part it was well laid out. I enjoyed the action and character development. And normally I can't stand cliffhangers, but I actually wanted to read more before the ending so it didn't bother me quite so much. I look forward to seeing how things play out in subsequent books and thank the author for an enjoyable read!
I think one of the biggest things that stood out to me about this book is the strong female main character. Serena is a total bad ass, speak the truth, take no s***, taking names and keeping scores, don't need to rely on anyone kind of girl! In a literary world where most female 'heroines' seem to have to rely on a man to make them who they are, it is refreshing to see a heroine be a self dependent person.
Then there's Zane... a troubled man thanks to a beastly curse being placed on him long ago that he's trying his best to learn how to control. The transformation scenes are very descriptive and I personally found myself cringing at his pain along with him. He is truly a character you feel sympathetic for.
Keith... the ass hat of a brother that decides to screw everything up (we can all somewhat relate to that, right!? Lol.)
All together this all makes for a very entertaining and action packed story. Yes there's romance in it, but it wasn't over kill and there was plenty of action to keep everything balanced out and ensure an entertaining story for everyone, no matter what your exact tastes are.
Bad-ass vamps, a killer heroine character, therions, aura magic, ghosts, romance, weapons, fighting, spells, and anything you can think of in between just about all wrapped up in a unique writing style to top it off! Whatever your particular favorite is, it's covered in here somewhere to draw in any reader! I'm willing to bet if you give this book a chance you will not regret it!
I have to confess that I bought the book by the cover. I mean, have you seen that cover? I think it's perfect for this book.
I really liked Scarlet Night. A very intense paranormal romance. It is a series, this book can not be read as standalone. It ends in cliffhanger and many questions remain without answers. Serena and Zane are well-developed characters. I do not like it when the main characters are flat. Serena is a strong woman, not a damsel in distress who needs the hero to always protect her.
I'm looking forward to reading how the story continues.
